Father Georgios Oikonomou

Protopresbyter

The Reverend Protopresbyter Georgios Oikonomou was born in Thessaloniki, in March 1980 and grew up in the Ilioupolis section of Thessaloniki. Ηe received his primary, secondary and University education in Thessaloniki and he graduated with a PhD in Theology in 2011. In 2003 he got married to Anastasia Mesemanoli and they have five children, Ioannis, Styliani, Grigorios, Arsenios and Loukas. He was ordained to Holy Diaconate on May 21, 2006 and to the Holy Priesthood on July 1, 2006 by Metropolitan Varnavas of Neapolis and Stavroupolis. He was assigned to the Parish of Sts. Constantine and Helen, Ilioupolis Thessaloniki, where he was responsible for youth and catechesis. Also he was chief at the Camp of Holy Metropolis of Neapolis and Stavroupolis for 10 years. Furthermore, he was a teacher of religion lessons at High Schools for 18 years. He has published many theological and pedagogical books and articles as well as catechetical resources. With the blessings of His Eminence Archbishop Elpidophoros of America he appointed to serve as the new Presiding Priest at the Saint Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church in Baltimore Maryland.

Ο Πρωτοπρεσβύτερος Γεώργιος Οικονόμου γεννήθηκε στη Θεσσαλονίκη το 1980. Μεγάλωσε στην Ηλιούπολη της Θεσσαλονίκης, όπου και ολοκλήρωσε τον κύκλο των σπουδών του το 2011, όταν αναγορεύτηκε Διδάκτωρ Θεολογίας στο Α.Π.Θ. Το 2003 παντρεύτηκε την Αναστασία Μεσεμανώλη, με την οποία απέκτησαν πέντε παιδιά, τον Ιωάννη, τη Στυλιανή, τον Γρηγόριο, τον Αρσένιο και τον Λουκά. Χειροτονήθηκε διάκονος στις 21 Μαΐου 2006, ενώ 1 Ιουλίου 2006 έλαβε τον βαθμό του πρεσβυτέρου από τον Μητροπολίτη Νεαπόλεως & Σταυρουπόλεως, κ. Βαρνάβα. Έκτοτε διορίστηκε στον Ιερό Ναό Αγίων Κωνσταντίνου & Ελένης Ηλιουπόλεως, όπου διακόνησε για περισσότερα από δεκαέξι χρόνια ως Υπεύθυνος Ενοριακής Νεανικής Εστίας. Διετέλεσε αρχηγός εκκλησιαστικών κατασκηνώσεων της Ιεράς Μητροπόλεως Νεαπόλεως & Σταυρουπόλεως για δέκα χρόνια. Επιπλέον εργάστηκε ως καθηγητής Μέσης Εκπαίδευσης διδάσκοντας το μάθημα των Θρησκευτικών για 18 χρόνια. Έχει συγγράψει θεολογικά και παιδαγωγικά βιβλία και άρθρα, καθώς επίσης και σειρά Κατηχητικών Βοηθημάτων. Με την ευλογία του Σεβασμιωτάτου Αρχιεπισκόπου Αμερικής, κ. Ελπιδοφόρου διακονεί από τον Δεκέμβριο του 2022 ως ο νέος Προϊστάμενος στην κοινότητα του Αγίου Νικολάου στη Βαλτιμόρη.

Stanley (Stelios) Cavouras

Sexton

Stelios Cavouras has been the sexton of St. Nicholas since January 2005. He occasionally opens the church for services and other events but mainly closes the church and its facilities after baptisms, weddings, meetings, dances, parties, receptions, dance groups' practices, the afternoon Greek School and the Greek Festival. He serves in the altar on Sundays and during weekday services (when time permits) and assists our priest during baptisms and weddings. He occasionally helps out in the office and performs other duties as the need arises at the church.
