About Us

The mission of the St. Nicholas Junior Orthodox Youth (JOY) program is to instill in the young children of our parish a love, commitment, and understanding of our Greek Orthodox faith through religious and spiritual education, creative hands-on activities, fellowship and socialization.

The St. Nicholas JOY Program is one of the church's most vital and thriving organizations. It was re-established several years ago when Fr. Michael Pastrikos saw a need to engage the young children of the parish (those not yet old enough to join GOYA) in an organized group that provided both religious education, and social interaction. The parents of the community responded enthusiastically to the idea and JOY has been a strong member of the church's organizations since.

  • Children who are between the ages of three (3) and eleven (11) are eligible to join.
  • The group meets once a month every third Saturday from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm in the small social hall.
  • Each meeting has a theme based on the ecclesiastical feast days of that month.
  • Activities include but are not limited to: arts and crafts, games, contests, basketball practice, and a lesson by Fr. Michael Pastrikos. Snacks will be provided by the parish.
  • Christina Kouroumblakis is the J.O.Y. Director. Please contact Ms. Kouroumblakis at 443-221-8024 if you are interested in signing up your child.
